SHAMBHALA SOUND WUHAN GONGS

We source our gongs direct from Wuhan in Central China. The city of Wuhan in Hubei province has been the traditional centre of gong making in China for centuries. Gongs from this part of china are often given the generic description: Wuhan gongs.

China has developed a very sophisticated range of metal sounds over many centuries dating back to the Bronze Age some 4,000 years ago. Gongs are now popular in a diversity of ensembles and orchestras but were originally valued for their own inherent power as sound objects, for controlling malevolent spirits, for meditation and for empowering astral travel.

Our carefully selected gongs have been supplied to symphony orchestras throughout Australia and are sought after by discerning percussionists and also therapists who use sound and vibration as part of their practice.
